NSN (Nokia Siemens Networks) announced on November 24 that the company plans to invest about 200 billion Won (US$173.9 million; US$ = 1149.9 Won) into the development of wireless broadband technologies in Korea over the next few years, the chinabyte.com reported on November 25, adding that the collaboration areas will consist of state-of-art wireless network technologies and development of mobile devices and mobile applications. NSN stated that the company will set up smart labs in Korea before next March to focus on R&D operations. With a total of 20 to 30 employees to be recruited for the labs, NSN will also seek collaboration with Korea-based enterprises. Asides from this plan, NSN already teamed up with Korean leading telecom operator KT (Korea Telecom) to jointly develop and share technologies while making jointly forays into overseas markets. KT is an exclusive distributor of the Apple iPhone in Korea.

Furthermore, it is reported that NSN will set up a new JV in Korea at the beginning of 2011, in a bid to take a dominant stake in Siemens' local tech affiliate called Dasan Networks, in which Siemens constitutes a 52.4% stake, according again to the chinabyte.com.
